Self-Determination
On the second night of Kwanzaa, after Nana faced down the monster of obstruction, she decares to Achebe:
"The Creator has given us the the right to name and define ourselves in the world - To determine who we are. It isfar too important to leave to the whim of others...We are unique in the world. Our story is essential if humankind is to know itself. From our stories comes the stuff of our dreams, our vision. We add unto the possibilities of mankind."
